Online Learning: VIPR, MOCAP and Launch

Virtual Instruction Program of Ray-Pec (VIPR)

The Virtual Instruction Program of Ray-Pec (VIPR) provides an alternative to in-person instruction for students in grades K-12. VIPR offers the opportunity for a student to take courses online that follow the same calendar and course objectives as in-person courses.

VIPR Handbook

Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) was established in 2007 as the state’s online school. It was previously known as Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MOVIP).

MOCAP offers courses to grades K-12 through a pre-approved list of providers. Students can take courses from any Internet-connected computer, available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. MOCAP’s mission is to offer Missouri students equal access to a wide range of high quality courses, and interactive online learning that is neither time nor place dependent. If a student wishes to pursue an online class offering through a MOCAP course provider other than Launch (see below), he/she must contact the school’s counselor or administrator to begin the process.

What is Launch?

Local school districts and charter schools may partner with a preferred online provider. The Raymore-Peculiar School District’s preferred provider is Launch. Launch is operated and overseen by the Springfield, Mo., School District and currently offers over 120 courses. Courses are designed by Missouri teachers and aligned to the state standards. A formal review process is built into all course development to ensure high quality and rigor.

Students wishing to take advantage of online learning opportunities can do so through Launch. For information and procedures for Launch, see the handbook below. Current course offerings through Launch can be found here. Please contact your school’s counselor for additional information.

Online Course Student/Parent Handbook

A guide has been prepared for parents, guardians, counselors and others who want to help students first decide whether online courses are a good option for them and, if so, how to proceed. You will find information about:

  • the characteristics of a successful online learner,

  • how to enroll in online courses and,

  •  the impact coursework may have on academics and activities.
